Metal Roofing Headquarters of Trussville

Metal roofs the early 20th century can be found sprinkled throughout the Trussville area, but the metal roofing style really took off in the 1930's. That's when the Roosevelt administration's "New Deal" through the Resettlement Administration changed the aesthetic of Trussville forever. Between 1936-38, construction of The Cahaba Homestead Village, also known as "Slagheap Village", took place. Originally consisting of 143 single-family homes & 44 duplexes, every single house the Cahaba Homestead was roofed with a state-of-the-art metal shingle. Many of these 85 year roofs are still functional to this day. An interesting side note, this historic metal shingle roofing system was first used in the US by the amateur architect & "Renaissance Man", Thomas Jefferson, to be the original roof of Monticello & The Rotunda at the University of Virginia. We've had the honor of replacing many of these roof with a modern, but still architecturally appropriate, metal shingle made by EDCO Products.
